Son Arrested After 94-Year-Old Woman Found Lying In Feces

HUDSON, FL — A 46-year-old Hudson man is accused of elderly neglect after his 94-year-old mother was found lying in a fetal position on a couch caked with her feces.

Randall Caraway of Denton Avenue was arrested Wednesday after Pasco County Sheriff's deputies checked on the elderly woman following a complaint and found her covered in bed sores with feces caked onto her skin.

Deputies said it looked as if she had not been bathed for more than a month. Additionally, the woman had developed pressure ulcers for lying in the same fetal position for an extended amount of time.

Her son was listed as her caretaker but had not paid her rent or utilities for more than a year despite receiving his mother's benefits of more than $1,900 a month.

Caraway was unable to account for the money that was intended to be spent on his mother's care.

He was taken to the Land O' Lakes Detention Center where bond was set at $10,000.

His mother was taken to Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center.
