Tesla Driver Arrested In Fatal Pasco County Hit-and-Run: FL Troopers

A Tampa bicyclist died after being hit by a Tesla driver who left the crash site in Pasco County, FL troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — A 52-year-old Tampa woman on a bicycle died in a Thursday night hit-and-run crash in Pasco County involving a Tesla Y, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The Tesla’s driver was heading south on Parkwood Street when he overtook and hit the bicyclist, who was also heading south, just south of Bert Street around 9 p.m.

After the crash, the driver, later identified as Logan Richard Pineda, 24, of Hudson, fled the scene, troopers said.

The woman was brought to an area hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Later that night, while troopers were still at the crash site, Pineda returned and identified himself as the driver, FHP said.

He was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash involving a death and booked into Pasco County Jail.
