Thank you to all of you who came to the Gas Tax County Commission Meeting at the Dade City Courthouse. The commissioners voted on the Second Option Local Gas Tax and it did not pass. Jack Mariano and Henry Wilson were the heroes of the night, and had to stand with sword in hand against the continued onslaught of Pat Mulieri, Katherine Starkey and Ted Shraeder. Those commissioners really, really, wanted to pass the tax. Before the vote, the county gave a 1.5 hr presentation that threw copious facts and doomsday scenarios at the audience. None of it stuck to the wall, and an overwhelming majority of the speakers were against the tax. Of course, the trade organizations and developers like the tax because they fear their mobility fees will increase. The LP, little people, won the day against a raging government. Thank you to all who spoke out.
