Voters Reelect New Port Richey Mayor Chopper Davis, Unofficial Results Show

New Port Richey voters reelected incumbent Mayor Chopper Davis, who faced three opponents, unofficial results show.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — Incumbent Mayor Chopper Davis was reelected in Tuesday’s municipal elections, based on unofficial results, New Port Richey city officials wrote in a social media post.

“Congratulations to Chopper Davis on being reelected Mayor for the City of New Port Richey! We also wish to extend our congratulations to all of the other candidates for their hard work on their campaigns,” the city wrote.

Davis won 640 votes or about 43 percent of the vote, the results show, unofficial results from the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections office show.

His closest opponent, Marlowe Jones, earned 336 votes or 22.55 percent of the vote, the results show.

Kelly Mothershead Timmons and Daisy Thomas took home 222 (14.9 percent) and 292 (19.6 percent), respectively.

Davis moved to New Port Richey in 1983, opening Jilly’s Tavern on Main Street after he arrived.

Moving around from state to state with his family, as his father served in the U.S. Air Force, he “says he never had a hometown until he moved to New Port Richey,” according to his bio on the city website.

After closing the bar, Davis worked at the Center for Independence, where he ran the sheltered workshop for developmentally delayed adults. Then, he worked with Card Connect, a company that specializes in processing credit cards for commercial accounts, where he still works today.

He sat on the New Port Richey Firefighters Pension Board from 2009 to 2013 before spending nine years on the New Port Richey City Council.

Davis was first elected mayor in 2023.
