HOLIDAY, FL -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says the man who led deputies on a dangerous chase along U.S. 19 last Thursday was high on meth and crack when he crashed into a sheriff's cruiser.
Shortly before 3 p.m. Nov. 29, deputies say Justin Scott Capell, 29, of Mosaic Drive, Holiday. stole a bag containing money, a cell phone and keys from a vehicle parked along U.S. 19. He then got into a yellow Mustang and fled east on U.S. 19 where a sheriff's deputy saw him run into another car. The deputy began chasing Capell's car and saw him run a red light and make an illegal U-turn at Flora Avenue before driving away at a speed of more than 100 mph.
When he reached Gulf Trace Boulevard, Capell attempted to change lanes and lost control of the Mustang, crashing into Deputy Shannon Henrici's cruiser at about 70 mph.
