PASCO COUNTY, FL — While New Year’s Day is often a day to recover from the previous night's festivities, if you do plan to head out, it’s good to know how the holiday may affect the availability of services in New Port Richey and Pasco County.

New Year’s Day is one of several holidays that usually affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in Pasco County

To help you plan, here’s a roundup of what’s open and what’s closed on New Year’s Day in our area:

Pasco County Board of County Commissioners and other offices: Closed Friday and Monday. All government offices will reopen Tuesday.

Pasco County Libraries: Closed Friday through Monday

Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources’ Offices, Recreation Complexes and Community Centers: Closed Friday through Monday, though parks and beaches will remain open to the public from dawn to dusk.

GoPasco County Public Transportation: Open Friday, though Route 19 bus service will end by 8 p.m. Services closed Saturday and Sunday and will reopen Monday. Administrative offices closed to walk-in customers Monday.

Pasco County Animal Services: Includes animal services administration office, adoption center, intake/reclaim shelter and field services. Closed Friday through Monday. An animal control officer will be available for emergencies only.

Pasco County Resource Recovery Facility, West Pasco Class III and East Pasco Transfer Station: Closed Friday, though they’ll be open to Pasco County licensed commercial haulers. Closed Saturday to all commercial haulers.

City of New Port Richey offices: Closed Friday through Monday
