Whiz Kid of the Week: Corey Nickels
Corey Nickels, a student at River Ridge High School wins "Take Stock in Children" college scholarship, given by Pasco County School District.

Corey Nickels is a senior at . He is currently in multiple AP classes, and is also in physics honors, with straight "A"s.
He won the "Take Stock in Children" college scholarship award from Pasco County Schools.
He enjoys being able to invent mechanical things from restoring old appliances to creating a mascot uniform that “sparks” the crowd.

Nickels collects and recycles appliances from around his neighborhood, such as old TVs, radio and anything electrical or powered by a battery. He also fixes and restores appliances.
He made a special battery-powered costume suit for homecoming week this year. The “Knight Volt" is powered by dozens of batteries. The suit can make actual sparks fly out of his fingertips.

He wants to go to the University of Florida next year and major in electrical engineering.
Students have seen Nickels riding around his neighborhood on his bicycle pulling a wagon and collecting broken mechanical items from the trash.
