Woman Riding In Stolen Car Killed In Pasco Crash: Police

The driver, believed to be a 40-year-old Lakeland man, fled on foot following the crash on Clinton Avenue, state police said.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — A passenger in a stolen car died Saturday morning after the vehicle struck a utility pole and overturned on a highway in Dade City, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Police said the crash happened around 8:40 a.m. in the 33600 block of Clinton Avenue in Dade City. According to authorities, the driver of a Ford pickup truck — whom police believe to be a 40-year-old Lakeland man — was driving east on Clinton Avenue when the vehicle went onto the south shoulder and struck a utility pole.

According to police, the truck then collided with a fence before overturning.

After the crash, police said the driver fled on foot.

A passenger in the car identified as a 30-year-old Lakeland woman died after she was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.

According to police, the truck involved in the crash was stolen from Zephyrhills.
