Wrong-Way Driver On Suncoast Parkway Charged With DUI
A 44-year-old man from Clermont was charged with driving under the influence following a wrong-way crash on the Suncoast Parkway.
NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — A 44-year-old man from Clermont was charged with driving under the influence following a wrong-way crash on the Suncoast Parkway Friday night.
At 10:43 p.m., Ricardo Ortiz Gomez was driving south on the Suncoast Parkway in the northbound lane for several miles when he collided nearly head on with a pickup truck driven by a 62-year-old Crystal River man south of State Road 52.
The two vehicles rotated along the inside shoulder and the pickup truck struck a concrete barrier wall. Both drivers sustained minor injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol arrested Gomez and took him to the Pasco County Jail where he was charged with DUI.
