Boy Hit in University Area Crash Dies from Injuries

The 6-year-old rode into the path of an oncoming SUV, deputies say.

A small boy struck by a SUV while riding his Huffy scooter on Tuesday has died from his injuries, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Yves Zamora, 6, of Tampa was listed in critical condition following the July 22 accident that took place just outside the University Area Harvest Hope Center, at 13704 N. 20th St.

Zamora “was riding his little micro push Huffy scooter” in the center’s driveway around 6:18 p.m. when he entered the road, straight into the path of a Nissan Xterra driven by Jack Bradley of Lutz. While Bradley, 65, attempted to serve out of the way, he was unable to avoid the crash, wrote Cristal Bermudez Nunez, sheriff’s office spokeswoman, in an email to media.
