New Tampa Homicide Victim Identified

The Tampa Police Department has released more details in a homicide that occurred in the New Tampa area Tuesday morning.

According to an email from the department, the incident occurred at 6002 Palm Shadow Way sometime before 9 a.m. Police say Alfred Lester, 38, and Orin Bivens, 47, got into a verbal dispute. When that dispute escalated, police said Bivens shot Lester.

Lester, police said, died in the breezeway of his apartment building.

Bivens was charged with second-degree murder, an email from the agency to media stated.

A child was in the home at the time of the shooting. He was not injured, police said.

Bivens had not yet been booked into the Hillsborough County Jail Tuesday afternoon.
