Halfacre Construction Company Oversees New Florikan Facility
Halfacre Construction Company acts as the construction project manager and will oversee the construction of the new Florikan facility.

Halfacre Construction Company, the area’s oldest, most established, locally owned and operated private commercial construction company, acts as the construction project manager for the Hardee County Industrial Development Authority and will oversee construction of the new Florikan facility in Hardee County.
Founded in 1981 by Ed and Betty Rosenthal, Florikan is a privately held, family-owned and operated business located in Sarasota, Fla. with 40 employees. Florikan specializes in polymer-coated fertilizer technologies that reduce the need for multiple fertilizer applications while improving crop performance to help growers lower costs and improve plant quality while reducing the industry’s footprint on the environment.
Beginning construction in September, the $4.5 million project will take almost a year to complete, with an approximate end date of August 2015. The 80,000-square-foot, pre-engineered metal building will feature 5,000 square feet of office space, 75,000 square feet of manufacturing space and truck wells on an eight-acre lot.

“During the request-for-proposal (RFP) process, Halfacre Construction Company definitely stood out the most,” said Sarah Pelham, the Economic Development Council coordinator / Industrial Development Authority for Hardee County. “I believe that if we didn’t have Halfacre Construction Company as a partner, the Industrial Development Authority would not be as far along with its industrial park and the development of new construction,” she said, who speaks to staff daily. “The staff’s professionalism, honesty and integrity have shown through during the past three to four years we have worked with them.”
