I-75 Accident Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured

Gregorio Feliz, a 27-year-old Tampa man, is dead following a side-swipe collision on Interstate 75 around 4 a.m. today, Oct. 21.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Feliz was driving a 1994 Isuzu pickup southbound in the outside lane of I-75, just south of Bruce B. Downs, when he shifted into the center lane. That lane, however, was already occupied by a tractor trailer driven by Juan Esquivel, 54, of Tampa.

The two vehicles collided, causing both to rotate and travel into the grass shoulder. The tractor trailer overturned on top of the pickup truck. Feliz received fatal injuries and died at the scene, the highway patrol said.

Esquivel and his passenger Zaragoza William Alvarez, 61, both received minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
