Judge rules North Miami council members violated city charter, not Sunshine Law (local10.com) — A judge has ruled that three North Miami council members violated the city charter in their effort to oust former City Manager Rasha Cameau, but did not find enough evidence of a Sunshine Law breach. The case, brought by North Miami resident Eileen Bicaba, could still lead to further legal action as the charter violation is a misdemeanor. 
2. Florida Medical Marijuana Sales Surpass 14.2 Billion mg of THC and Nearly 5 Million Ounces in 2026 (themarijuanaherald.com) — Florida’s booming medical marijuana market has passed 14.2 billion milligrams of THC sold this year, and North Miami is getting a new Goldflower Cannabis dispensary among the latest statewide openings. With nearly 940,000 active patients and 776 dispensary locations, the expansion means local cardholders will soon have another nearby option for legal medical cannabis products.
3. Miami-Dade man accused of leaving stepson, 6, unattended while he was ‘in a rush' (local10.com) — North Miami police say a 6-year-old boy was left unsupervised after being dropped at a local apartment complex, then walked alone to a nearby Family Dollar seeking help. Officers later arrested his stepfather on a child neglect charge, and a concerned witness stayed with the child, provided food, and called law enforcement.
4. Invasive Asian Swamp Eels Spread Farther in South Florida (bocaratontribune.com) — Invasive Asian swamp eels have now been documented in canals across Miami-Dade County, including right here in North Miami, raising concerns for local wetlands and wildlife. Scientists say the hard-to-spot predators threaten crayfish, frogs, and small fish, and they’re urging residents to photograph and report any suspicious eel-like fish using the IVEGOT1 hotline or app.
