2 Charged With Driving 199 MPH On FL Turnpike: Sheriff
"This isn't the first operation we've done, and it certainly won't be the last," the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.
ORANGE COUNTY — Two men were arrested Sunday morning after authorities say they clocked their Chevrolet Camaro traveling at 199 mph on the Florida Turnpike.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said Monday authorities arrested Luis Alejandro Lozano-Figueroa and Mario Alberto Paz-Gil for engaging in "unlawful and dangerous street racing."
The speed limit on the turnpike is 70 mph, meaning the accused men drove more than double the accepted limit.

Lozano-Figueroa's Camaro and a black vehicle were spotted drag racing side by side, an arrest affidavit said, according to FOX Orlando.
Officials charged Lozano-Figueroa with racingon a highway. Paz-Gil was arrested for knowingly riding as a passenger during street racing on a highway, the affidavit said. Both were booked into the Osceola County jail.

A 16-year-old passenger of the Camaro was released to their mother, FOX said.
"This isn't the first operation we've done, and it certainly won't be the last," authorities said in a Facebook post.
The sheriff's office said it arrested 157 people, issued 1,290 citations and seized 54 vehicles in 2023.
"We have ZERO TOLERANCE for street racing here in Orange County," authorities said in the post.
