‘HUNGER NEVER SLEEPS’: SECOND HARVEST URGES CENTRAL FLORIDA TO TAKE ACTION THIS SEPTEMBER AS NEED FOR ASSISTANCE RISES

Food Bank to Launch 24-Hour Volunteer Marathon on Sept. 26

WHAT:

In honor of Hunger Action Month this September, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is inviting the community to get involved by volunteering, donating or raising awareness.

For the first time, the food bank is hosting a 24-hour volunteer marathon to demonstrate that ‘Hunger Never Sleeps’ and neither can relief efforts. While most shifts are filled, there is still a limited number of overnight opportunities available to sort and pack food boxes that will be distributed to thousands of children, seniors and families at risk of experiencing hunger.

Those unable to attend ‘Hunger Never Sleeps’ in person can still make an impact by signing up for other volunteer shifts throughout September or by donating $24 – symbolizing 24 hours of action. Both are critical for Second Harvest to continue distributing enough food to provide 300,000 meals each day.
