Park Maitland School Celebrates Valentine's Day by Giving Back
Students donated peanut butter and milk boxes to a food pantry, as well as created cards, buttons and banners for local health care workers
Students from Park Maitland School recently delivered more than 2,000 servings of peanut butter and milk to the food pantry at Killarney Elementary School in Winter Park. Over the past two weeks, students worked together to collect the donations, which will be used to provide meals during weekends and holiday breaks for Killarney students who are living in poverty and often do not have enough food.
In addition to their food drive, Park Maitland students also thanked the health care workers and staff at local Advent Health hospitals by writing personalized letters and making artwork and buttons, as well as creating large banners that will be displayed in the hallways of the COVID-19 units. A small group of students delivered the items to Advent Health in Winter Park on Feb. 12. Through these “Valentine’s Day of Giving” initiatives, students learned the importance of spreading kindness and giving back in the community.
