Park Maitland School Hosts Ribbon Cutting for New “iHub" Building

Students from the sixth grade class designed the Innovation Hub (iHub), which is home to the school's Maker Space, STEAM lab and classrooms

Students at Park Maitland School recently celebrated the grand opening of the school’s new Innovation Hub (iHub) building, which was designed by the sixth grade class and houses the school’s Maker Space, the science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) lab, third grade science classroom and media center. Last year, students worked together to strategically create architectural designs and blueprints for the space. Once the design was finalized, local builders and architects used the students’ plans to build the iHub.

To celebrate the new space, students hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony that highlighted the school’s traditions and their spirit of innovation. Students performed traditional songs, watched a video of the process of creating the iHub, and heard from students and local partners who collaboratively created the innovative space. The sixth grade students and all of the project partners then walked over to the newly-opened iHub for a ribbon cutting ceremony and tours of the space they proudly designed.
