Park Maitland School Students Celebrate “Earth Maker Day”
Students participated in multiple activities on April 18 during the daylong "Earth Maker Day"
On April 18, students at Park Maitland School celebrated Earth Day at a schoolwide event called “Earth Maker Day.” Students of all ages participated in a variety of design and making activities throughout the day to promote environmental awareness, as well as develop solutions to create a more environmentally friendly school and community.
The lower school students at Park Maitland School created plastic bag bracelets, remolded recycled crayons into new shapes, planted seeds in a butterfly garden and participated in a nature walk scavenger hunt. With their homeroom teams, the upper school students participated in a design challenge using recyclables, donated clothes and textiles to create a variety of items, including water bottle holsters, bags, belts, lunch boxes and more. Students then modeled their designs during a fashion show complete with a red-carpet runway, lighting, audio and student emcees. Park Maitland School teaches the importance of community and caring for the environment at a young age.
