Ribbon Cutting Planned for Apopka’s Debut 55+ Community
Leasing Center for Mera at East Shore is Now Open

(Apopka, FL) – There are now less than six months to go until the first residents begin moving into Apopka, Florida’s debut 55+ community. A ribbon cutting is planned for Thursday, November 5, 2026, to celebrate this major milestone for Mera at East Shore—a Sparrow Living community.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. in front of the community’s leasing center, which is located at 2222 Ocoee Apopka Road, Suite #114, Ocoee, Florida 34761. Mera at East Shore is now under construction at a site just three miles to the north of the leasing center and right next door to Apopka’s brand-new Publix grocery store.
“We are excited to share with people who come to our ribbon cutting why Mera at East Shore is a community they should consider moving to when they are ready to downsize. What they are going to get out of it is they can live in a gorgeous, luxurious community with wonderful amenities and the ability to really get to know their neighbors,” said Maried Yavorosky, Mera at East Shore’s Community Manager.

Mera at East Shore is located at 2317 Ocoee Apopka Road, Apopka, Florida 32703. When the community opens this spring, it will offer 196 new housing apartment homes: 188 apartments in a four-story building and eight single-level cottages.
“The majority of the people who have expressed interest in our community so far are still working and excited about the opportunity to downsize from the homes they have raised their families in and move to a community that is maintenance free. No more mowing the lawn or dealing with plumbing issues. We take care of everything for our residents,” said Yavorosky, who is looking forward to the opportunity to introduce the community to people who want the perks of senior living without the services and meals.

Instead, the focus will be on living the best life possible. From energizing wellness classes to joyful social gatherings to creative workshops, everything is designed to nourish residents’ bodies, spark their minds and build meaningful bonds.
There will always be something to do at Mera at East Shore. Residents can be as social and involved as they like. They can attend a class, host a dinner and share stories.
“We expect our residents to start groups and clubs on their own as well. Maybe they will want to inspire someone to join their garden club or form a weekly Mahjong group that meets in the library. The opportunities are endless,” said Yavorosky, who added that founding residents will have the opportunity to build the initial program with Mera at East Shore in preparation for opening.
“As an added benefit, the price point at an active adult community is significantly lower than a traditional senior living option,” said Melissa Grance, Sparrow Living’s Director of Brand and New Starts
