Murder Suicide in Southwest Miami-Dade: Couple Found by Son
An estranged couple in their fifties was found shot to death outside of the husband's residence.

SOUTH DADE, FL — An estranged couple in their fifties was found shot to death on Monday afternoon in what police are describing as an apparent murder suicide. The couple was found outside a Southwest Miami-Dade home by their son.
The victims were at the husband's residence in the 19000 block of SW 244th Street, according to Detective Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department. Police did not release the names of the victims.

"According to investigators, a 9-1-1 call was received in reference to two people shot. Officers arrived at the residence and made contact with the reporter, who is the son of the homeowner," Zabaleta told Patch, adding that the husband was in his early fifties while the wife was in her mid fifties. "He advised that he returned home and discovered his mom and dad deceased in the back terrace from apparent gunshot wounds," the detective said. "The preliminary information reveals that the deceased couple were separated and the estranged wife visited the residence to pick up documents. Once the son returned home, he discovered his parents deceased and notified the police."

Zabaleta said that police are not actively searching for suspects.
"The investigation is leading detectives to believe that this is a domestic-related murder suicide," the detective added.
