5 Palm Harbor Harbor Schools Earn "Five Star School" Awards

State honored 31 Pinellas County schools with the awards, five of the schools are in Palm Harbor.

Students at five Palm Harbor schools now have bragging rights, their schools have been honored with the Five Star School Award. Residents of Palm Harbor also have reason to brag, the community is home to 5 of the 31 schools in the county that received the awards.

The Florida Department of Education gives out the awards each year to the schools for "exemplary work in family and community involvement". To qualify for the award, schools must achieve 100 percent of the criteria in the categories of business partnerships, family involvement, volunteerism, student community service, and school advisory councils.

This year, 31 schools throughout Pinellas County received the award, which is the highest number of winners in the last 12 years.
