Accused Palm Harbor Bank Robber Arrested 2 Years Later

It took two years but the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has finally arrested the man accused of two Palm Harbor bank robberies.

PALM HARBOR, FL -- It took two years but the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has finally arrested the man accused of two Palm Harbor bank robberies.

Joseph Robert Carter, 47, of Dalton, Georgia, has been charged with two counts of robbery for the 2016 holdups of the Jefferson Bank of Florida, U.S. 19 North, Palm Harbor.

The robberies occurred on June 24 and Sept. 9.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said it caught up with Carter when he was arrested by Dalton, Georgia police for driving without a valid license.

On Sept. 4, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office were able to match Carter's fingerprints from his arrest in Georgia to those found at the bank robberies.

The sheriff's office said Dalton admitted to the robberies, blaming it on a drug habit.

He will be extradicted to the Pinellas County Jail.
