When you learn to type you will learn how to sit in front of typewriter, the parts of a typewriter and how it works, how to set margins, how to center your headings through calculations of words and space on your page. You learn how to layout columns by calculating the words and spaces across the page. You also learn to center your work vertically and horizontally. All these and more are done manually which gives you a clearer understanding of each document and their layout.
I recommend that all persons having access to a computer whether in the workplace or at home should first take a full typing course using the manual typewriter.
