Tampa Bay’s PGA TOUR® event, the Transitions Championship, is a week of world-class golf, alongside entertainment, activities, contests, events, hospitality tents, celebrity appearances, and major contributions to local charities (nearly $2 million raised last year).
The tournament began in 1977 as a mixed-team event featuring PGA TOUR and LPGA professionals and became a full-field PGA TOUR event in 2000. The tournament has been played at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook since 1990. Past champions (since 2000) include FedExCup champions Jim Furyk and Vijay Singh and two-time winners Retief Goosen and K.J. Choi. Since 1977, more than $27.5 million has been raised for charity, led by event host The Copperheads.
144 players from the PGA TOUR will be playing for a purse of more than $5 million. Players have until the Friday prior to the tournament to commit. Gary Woodland is the Defending Champion.
