Tampa Bay is one of the most multifarious areas with its stunning sunsets; bizarre hand-painted buildings, and sculptures in St Pete; and the flavorful markets of Tarpon Springs to a name a few. Why then aren't more films being made here?
New York City skylines have been honored in more movies than I can count, while Tampa's has gone relatively unnoticed. It is less expensive to film here, and with the help of the many local colleges offering degrees in film-making, acting, and dance, there are plenty of willing participants. Tourism would increase as well, thus aiding local hotels and restaurants.
Who would be the proper representative to invite - or entice if you will - Hollywood producers to consider our fair peninsula as the backdrop for a theatrical allegory?
Let's employ our local talent - filmmakers and all - by creating jobs here in Florida!
