Palm Harbor Duo Competes in National Family Tennis Championships

This weekend, Palm Harbor mother Rachel McCaskill and her son Carter McCaskill,12, will compete in the National Family Tennis Championships in Naples.

The National Family Tennis Championships celebrates its pilot year of play as 18 husband/wife and parent/child teams from seven states including Texas, Pennsylvania, Alabama and Georgia will take part in the competition’s national championship tournament at the Waldorf Astoria in Naples, Florida through September 9, 2012.

A family from Palm Harbor is among six family teams from Florida competing in the national championships. 

The teams include: Leanne Luehrman and Alexandra Luehrman (age 10) of Fort Myers; Robin Waugh-Castle and Remy Waugh-Castle (age 8) of Clearwater; Rachel McCaskill and Carter McCaskill (age 12) of Palm Harbor and the husband/wife duo of David King and Kimberly Cashman also of Clearwater.

The final two teams include Andrew Lake of Davie who qualified in the father/daughter division with Evan (age 14) and father/son division with Thomas (age 11)

After participating in local competitions at tennis facilities from Texas to New York, the 18 teams received an invitation to the national championships which includes three nights of hotel accommodations at the renowned Waldorf-Astoria Naples.  After an opening night reception, the teams will take to the courts in a round-robin 2-day tournament to determine a champion in five divisions of play.
