Palm Harbor Library Seeking Artists to Design Table Tops
Palm Harbor Library is inviting artists to paint a one-of-a-kind design on a Library table top.

As part of Palm Harbor Library’s initiative to encourage the talent of local artists, the Library is inviting artists to paint a one-of-a-kind design on a Library table top. Once painted, the functional art tables will be utilized in the main room of the Library and protected under glass.
A limited number of wooden tables in varying sizes are available and can be chosen by an artist on a first come, first served basis. Interested artists are encouraged to visit the Library’s children’s room for an application or call 784-3332 and select option 4 for further information.
“We strive to be a premier cultural destination in Palm Harbor, and are thrilled to offer this exciting opportunity to local artists to showcase their talent here,” comments Gene Coppola, Library Director. “We are also excited to “upcycle” these traditional wooden tables into contemporary, original art pieces that our community can enjoy.”

Upcycling is the process of transforming or giving new life to old materials. With America’s rising awareness for the need to recycle and reuse, upcycling has gained popularity in recent years as an important part of the green initiative. “Rather than buying new tables, this is a creative way to breath new life into them by creating functional art that gives exposure to the many talented artists here in Palm Harbor,” continued Gene Coppola.
A few tables have already been painted and are in use. The designs are colorful, bold and unique, which is the intent of the program. One of the painted tables features a face of a woman with long flowing hair in a dream-like setting surrounded by vibrant flying birds. The imaginative table captures the spirit of the program and the interest of library patrons.
