Palm Harbor Man Dead After U.S. 19 Crash

The accident happened in a construction zone.

A 28-year-old Palm Harbor man is dead following a Sunday morning crash on U.S. 19 at Bilgore Grove Boulevard.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, AKCA Paving Company was working on road repairs around 3:06 a.m. in the area when the accident occurred. Two trucks were in the process of removing traffic cones to reopen the road. One of the trucks, driven by Jeremy Peters, 31, of Mulberry was carrying a flashing arrow board which was in use to direct traffic to shift right since the inside lane was closed.

Stephen Segura, 28, was driving a 2003 Honda Accord northbound on U.S. 19 and failed to notice Peters’ truck, troopers say. The front of the Honda struck the rear of the construction truck.
