Palm Harbor Schools to Remember Veterans
Students at many Palm Harbor Schools will be honoring Veterans Day in different ways on Friday, Nov. 11.

Here's a look at how kids in our community will be honoring veterans Friday.
- Highland Lakes Elementary- Veterans Day Program for students and faculty at 9 a.m. Staff and students will wear red, white and blue and patriotic hats and flags.
- Lake St. George Elementary- Annual Veterans Day parade and celebration begins at 9 a.m. at the P.E. court. It will be led by a VFW Color Guard and military representation from the five branches. Program includes taps, student essays and student chorus with a potential flyover from a Coast Guard C-130 aircraft.
- Palm Harbor Middle School- Veterans Day programs at 9:40 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the school courtyard. The Wall of Remembrance will be the highlight of the school's annual Veterans Day observance with the names of more than 800 relatives, staff and the community handwritten by Tony George, Tech Ed teacher. George and his class built the wall in 1986 in dedication to Tony's brother who was killed during WWII. The ceremony includes guest speaker Mark Hatch, US Army; Clearwater High Marine Corps Jr. ROTC Drill Team, patriotic speeches by students, musical pieces and the placing of flowers on each name on the wall.
