Palm Harbor Senior Idol Tryouts Oct. 15

Psst... know anyone who's 50 or over who's a great singer?

You might want to encourage them to tryout for Palm Harbor's first "Senior Idol" competition. CSA Palm Harbor Parks & Recreation is presenting its first annual Senior Idol”this fall at The Centre of Palm Harbor. Contestants will compete in front of local celebrity judges with the audience voting in the competition. Ten contestants will be selected from an audition process on October, 15.

“It’s a great show and we’re really excited to bring it to Palm Harbor,” says Mathew Eberius, the show’s coordinator. Eberius, who spent several years at another recreation agency, had helped produce several successful talent competitions in north Pinellas. This is his first in Palm Harbor.

“There’s a great creative vibe in Palm Harbor and I know we’ll have some show-stoppers come out to auditions,” he said.

If you, or someone you know is interested in partipating, here's what you need to know-

• Open auditions for Senior Idol are Monday, October, 15 from 6-9 p.m. at The Centre. 
• Contestants hould bring a CD or iPod with their music and be prepared to perform for two songs, at the judge’s discretion. 
• Auditions are closed to the public and are first-come, first-served. 
• The age for auditions is 50-plus.

“Senior Idol” will take place on Friday, November 9 at 7 p.m. in the Palm Banquet Room of The Centre. Tickets will go on sale October 15. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
