Palm Harbor University High Leads County in Scholarship Semifinalists

26 Pinellas County students were named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists. 14 of those students attend Palm Harbor University High.

Palm Harbor schools are continuing to earn recognition for providing a top notch education to their students.

Yesterday, we told you about the five Palm Harbor schools that earned the from the state. Now, 14 seniors at have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation named 26 students in Pinellas County as semifinalists, which means more than half of the semifinalists are from Palm Harbor University High.

The Palm Harbor University High National Merit Scholarship semifinalists are-

  • Miranda Goot
  • Jonathan Im
  • Masi Javeed
  • Nathan Lord
  • Cara McCormack
  • Lauren Moseley
  • Salil Phadnis
  • Alice Salmon
  • Margot Samson
  • Alec Sokol
  • Sarah Wall
  • Matthew Weingarten

The students will be eligible to compete for more than 8,300 scholarships valued at $34 million. The scholarships will be offered in the spring.

The semifinalists were selected from 1.5 million high school students who took the 2010 Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test. According to the Pinellas County School District, the winners represent less than one percent of all the graduating seniors in the United States.
