Pat's Place Puts People First with Wheelchair-Accessibility

Pat's Place marks two years being handicap-accessible after closing down for seven months to make renovations.

Pat’s Place, which serves authentic Greek cuisine, is celebrating its second anniversary of being handicap-accessible. “We are proud to make it possible for people in wheelchairs to enjoy our welcoming family- and handicap-friendly cafe,” said Patti Dooley, owner of Pat’s Place. “In fact, to make this possible, we closed for seven months to make the necessary renovations in compliance with ADA laws.”

As part of its renovation, Pat’s Place made two bathrooms wheelchair-accessible as well as lowered the countertops, all for the sake of enabling any customer access to the cozy cafe that treats its patrons like family. “I like serving the customers and being able to get to know the regulars and spending time with them,” said Patti, the third “Pat” to own Pat’s Place since its inception twenty-five years ago. “It’s like Cheers, but it’s a restaurant, not a bar.”

In addition to becoming handicap-accessible, Patti’s dream is to expand and offer more dining tables and a bigger kitchen. In the meantime, Pat’s Place is still synonymous with spanakopita (spinach pie) and gyros. Additionally, they serve classic subs, pizzas and salads. Patti is also proud to announce that Pat’s offers gluten-free items, including pizza, and she regularly seeks out ingredients and items to offer that are gluten-free.

“I am gluten-intolerant and know how it can be to go out and not have options,” said Patti. “I work hard to remedy this at Pat’s Place.”
