PGA Tour Looking for New Innisbrook Title Sponsor

Transitions Optical will not renew its sponsorship when its contract expires in 2012.

The search for new Innisbrook PGA title sponsor is underway.Β Transitions Optical, the sponsor of the PGA Tour at Innisbrook has decided not to renew its four-year contract when it expires after the March 2012 tournament.

Innisbrook Managing Director, Lloyd Williams says he's confident a new tour sponsor will be found.

"Based on Innisbrook Resort’s proud record as a PGA Tour event site since 1990, we are confident the tour’s efforts will be enhanced as a result of those successes.Β  As everyone knows, the PGA Tour players that play the course consider it amongst the best they play anywhere in the world and their opinions are important," he said.

Williams says Innisbrook will work with the PGA Tour and the Copperheads in whatever way is needed regarding prospective title sponsors, "The Innisbrook/Tampa Bay area tournament is an important element of the PGA tour’s β€œFlorida Swing” and we are confident that, just as in the past, a fine title sponsor will emerge," said Williams.

The St. Petersburg Times reports that title sponsorship for the tournament has been reported to be around $7 million per year.
