Alternate U.S. 19 Opens

Flooding made sections of the road impossible to travel.

Update: Pinellas County has announced that Alt. 19 has reopened, but urges motorists to use traffic.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is asking that motorists steer clear of Alt. U.S. 19 in the Palm Harbor area a bit longer. The agency has announced portions of the road will remain closed until the evening hours Monday.

As of 3:14 p.m. Monday, Alt. 19 from Curlew Road to Nebraska Avenue was still closed due to flooding. Local traffic will be permitted, the sheriff’s office says, depending on the depth of water.

“Expect traffic delays and please use alternate routes, CR 1, Belcher Rd and US Hwy 19,” the agency wrote in an email to media.

It is unclear how long the road will remain inaccessible to traffic.
