Thirsty Marlin Golf Tournament- Putting for a Purpose
Under the guise of good fun and friendly competition, the Thirsty Marlin pumps thousands into Palm Harbor charities

The Thirsty Marlin 11th Annual Golf Tournament takes place Saturday, 1 p.m. at Lansbrook Golf Club, and from the gifts to the eats – and the on-course drinks – it’s easy to forget that your entrance fee goes a long way towards aiding various Palm Harbor charities.
‘We raise roughly $4,000 a tournament," Brian St. Arnold, co-owner said, and that’s on top of all the swag, food and fun each participant receives before they even take to the links.
‘Our goodie bag contains a certificate for another round of golf at Lansbrook, lunch, beverages in the clubhouse and on the course, and a post-tournament fillet dinner back at the restaurant afterward," St. Arnold shared.

There will be the obligatory prizes for first and second place, but St. Arnold said that’s not where the big tickets items are awarded, and for good reason. "It’s a friendly four-person scramble, and people are gonna cheat," he said. "Trust me, Tiger Woods has never achieved a score like some folks bring into the clubhouse."
For those who want to up the ante, they can purchase a $25 ‘super ticket’ that includes three mulligans, four par-3 competitions, a poker tournament and a putting contest with a $500 Thirsty Marlin gift certificate as the bounty.

And the getting doesn’t stop there. Door prizes include a pair of 2-person, 3-day getaways to Mexico and a similar package to the Bahamas; Thirsty Marlin catering package for 25 people, gift certificates to various local restaurants, barbecues, hammocks, beach chairs, coolers and the list goes on. "There are about 60 really top-notch prizes, but just about everybody will win something," St. Arnold boasted.
While on the course, be sure and keep an eye out for the self-proclaimed ambassador; he’ll be the guy in the cart randomly passing out beverages to the fellas and maybe even playing a hole or two while he stops by.
"We have a lot of charitable people in our community, and at Thirsty Marlin we like to keep the focus on fun so they can give back and have a good time doing it," he concluded.
You can take a chance and show up Saturday by noon to sign up, but with less than two dozen open slots remaining, it’s strongly recommended you ring up St. Arnold at 727-784-3469 quickly to get a tee time.
