How exciting! Finally getting into blogging world….it shouldn’t be that hard for me. If you know me at all, you know I usually have an easy time talking, some may say rambling, with people. Back in the day I wrote about college life weekly in my own column, “Babble On”, in the USF Oracle. Even then, they felt I was a yapper…
But, I digress…Welcome to my office's, EyeDocs Optical, Eyes on the Prize blog! My intention is to have some fun, educate, captivate, entertain, and then have some more fun while we’re at it!
Our office is physically located at 3384 Tampa Road, Palm Harbor, FL 34684, literally minutes from the beach….which if you know me and how incredibly pale I am, you would know that sun worshipping and I don’t get along. It always wins…and I end up looking very pink! Even with SPF50! But, not my eyes!

We here at Eyedocs Optical definitely promote sun protection! Especially for the eyes! Did you know that the most damage is done to the human eye before age 18??? That is why it is imperative children wear sun protection! We recommend sunglasses for everyone all the time! In Florida we are exposed to the sun continuously and since we are closer to the equator and thus closer to the sun, our risk is higher!
UV rays are extremely harmful to the most precious sensory organ you have! UV rays will burn the cornea, accelerate cataracts, cause pinguecula and pterygium (conjunctival skin growth across the cornea), affect the macula ,as well as cause skin cancer and wrinkles of the very thin skin around the eyes! That’s why, since even though it's "winter", I am going to post pictures of some of the very cool sunglasses we carry in my office.
