Park Trails Elementary, Westglades Middle, and a local Jersey Mike’s all saw calls for service, but most situations ended without serious injuries or major damage.
   

2. Stoneman Douglas Student Named National Merit Scholarship Winner (tapinto.net) — A Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student from Parkland, Alyssa L. Rapps, has been named a National Merit Scholarship winner with plans to pursue materials engineering. Marjory Stoneman Douglas JROTC Wins Awards at State Drill Competition (parklandtalk.com) — Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s JROTC cadets in Parkland racked up 17 trophies at spring drill meets and four more awards at the state drill competition in Davenport. Students and instructors say the intense training has built leadership, accountability, and strong friendships, and they’re confident the Eagle battalion will keep improving in future competitions.
   

4. American Heritage Schools is the No. 1 School in Florida for Highest Number of Presidential Scholar Candidates in 2026 (bocaratontribune.com) — Several Parkland students from American Heritage Schools’ Broward campus have been named U.S. Presidential Scholar candidates, putting local teens among the state’s top high school seniors. The school leads Florida in the number of candidates, highlighting both academic rigor and community pride, with honorees recognized for scholarship, leadership, and service.
