Administrators at Stoneman Douglas to Continue to Receive an Additional $5,000 Annually (tapinto.net) — Administrators at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland will keep receiving a $5,000 annual pay supplement through the 2033-34 school year, following a vote by the Broward County School Board. The extra compensation, begun after the 2018 shooting, currently applies to six administrative positions and totals $30,000 a year, recognizing the ongoing demands of serving at the school.
   

2. Newly Released Video Shows BSO Deputies Rescuing Seven Dogs From Parkland House Fire (tapinto.net) — Broward Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters rescued seven dogs, including five puppies, from a June 19 house fire in a Parkland home, and the family has since returned after repairs. The first responders were honored at an August 19 Parkland City Commission meeting, where one of the rescued puppies even attended, and newly released bodycam footage now lets residents see the dramatic save firsthand.
   

3. Marjory Stoneman Douglas JROTC Honors 9/11 Victims With Daylong Tribute (parklandtalk.com) — Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s JROTC cadets in Parkland spent the entire school day standing guard over a 9/11 memorial in the main courtyard, honoring nearly 3,000 victims. Students and teachers visited throughout the day, and organizers say they’ll continue this annual tribute so Parkland’s younger generations keep the memory of 9/11 alive.
   

4. FLORIDA POWER RANKINGS INDEX: Projected scores and win probabilities for Week 5 of the 2026 season (floridahsfootball.com) — Parkland football fans can see how Stoneman Douglas is projected to fare this week, with the Florida Power Rankings Index giving the Eagles a tough matchup and predicting a loss to Cypress Bay.
