• Pompano Air Park Included in Federal Investigation of Air Traffic 'Contract Towers' (tapinto.net) — A new federal audit found the nation’s privately run air traffic control towers, including North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, are chronically understaffed. Inspectors say nearly one in five controller positions is vacant and hundreds of towers have gone temporarily offline. While no specific safety issues were reported locally, the report urges the FAA to tighten oversight and address staffing and pay problems.
