3. Escambia County to demolish Bob Sikes toll booth as Pensacola Beach Gateway nears end (weartv.com) — Escambia County is set to demolish the Bob Sikes toll booth on Pensacola Beach Road starting October 11, replacing it with a toll-by-plate gantry aimed at easing congestion and improving emergency access. While beach access fees will remain, officials say the $6.5 million Pensacola Beach Gateway project should smooth traffic flow and make the area safer for drivers, bikers and walkers.
   

4. Take Stock in Children angel mentor changes lives in Escambia County (weartv.com) — In Pensacola, longtime volunteer mentor Jeanne Meyer is transforming Escambia County students' lives through the Take Stock in Children program, which pairs adults with middle schoolers through high school and into college. Her steady presence, along with other mentors, helps local kids facing serious family challenges stay on track for scholarships, careers in helping professions, and brighter futures.
