Pensacola approves state immigration grant, increasing police budget by $540K (weartv.com) — Pensacola residents should know the City Council has accepted a $540,000 state immigration enforcement grant, boosting the Pensacola Police Department budget for new radios, technology, and overtime. Pensacola Man Sentenced for Firearms Offense (justice.gov) — A 23-year-old Pensacola man has been sentenced to 20 months in federal prison for making and selling unregistered 3D‑printed conversion devices that turned AR‑15s fully automatic. Managed locally through Opening Doors Northwest Florida, the money will fund rent assistance, emergency shelter, hotel stays, outreach, and case management, with strict limits on administrative costs and requirements that local providers serve at least 26 people each month.
5. Escambia County rodeo to benefit horses and girls at Elberta ranch (wkrg.com) — A major fundraiser rodeo for Shorty's Safe Haven Girls Ranch is being held at the Escambia County Equestrian Center in Pensacola, bringing bull riding, barrel racing, food trucks, and a kids zone.
