Possible Break In Case Of Florida Pit Bull Stuffed In Suitcase

Police said that they executed a search warrant in the case on Tuesday.

HOLLYWOOD, FL β€” Police announced a possible break in the case of a Florida pit bull that was found stuffed inside a suitcase, beaten and stabbed more than 50 times. Hollywood police said they executed a search warrant in the case on Tuesday. The dog named "Ollie" by police later died from his injuries but the reward for his killer now tops $40,000.

"On Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 Hollywood Police executed a search warrant in the 1900 block of Lee Street related to the death of Ollie," police spokeswoman Miranda Grossman told Patch early Tuesday evening. "We have no one in custody at this time."

Animal rights organization PETA recently announced that it would double its reward to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the killer or killers.

Ollie's sunny disposition won the hearts of the police and veterinary staff who cared for him, and his plight triggered an outpouring of more than 1,300 donations from across the United States and as far away as the United Kingdom and Norway.

"Someone out there knows something about this horrific attack," PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange has said. "Whoever did this is downright dangerous, and it's urgent that anyone with information come forward to prevent others from being hurt."

Ollie was suffering from stab wounds to his head and body when police found him behind an abandoned building in the 1900 block of Lee Street early on Oct. 10, according to Grossman. The search warrant is being executed in the same block where Ollie was found.

A copy of PETA's reward poster is available here, and the organization has urged businesses, schools and sports centers around the Hollywood area to post it.
