Boil Water Notice Stands for St. Pete Beach, Tierra Verde

A 16-inch water pipe broke over the weekend.

ST. PETE BEACH, FL – More than 6,000 Pinellas County Utilities customers remained under a precautionary boil water notice Monday after a 16-inch pipe sprung a leak over the weekend, causing issues with no and low water pressure.

According to the agency, repairs continue on the pipe, which is located at the intersection of 75th Avenue and Blind Pass Road in St. Pete Beach.

The pipe developed a leak on Saturday, officials noted, prompting the precautionary boil water notice. Water pressure has been restored in some areas, but residents who continue to experience problems are asked to call Utilities Maintenance Dispatch at 727-464-5809. Residents and businesses are also being asked to limit their water use to assist in stabilizing water pressure.

As for that boil water notice, customers are being asked to continue to follow it for the time being. The request will be rescinded when test results confirm the water is safe for consumption, the agency noted.

“Once satisfactory water quality is restored, please run cold water through all plumbing fixtures for several minutes until water is clear,” the agency noted in an email to media. “Residents are advised to shut off ice makers and dispose of any ice made during the affected period.”
