Five Things We Learned: Bridges and Town Halls

See what you may have missed this week on Patch.

: The long-awaited Bayway Bridge replacement is coming soon, and and the Florida Department of Transportation is holding an open house to answer questions about the project.

: Madeira Beach is looking to overhaul it's current city hall and make it more of a complex for residents, according to an article from the Beach Beacon. According to plans shown at the January 5 workshop, the new complex would include a new city hall, fire station and public works building, all topped off with a clock tower.

: Fort De Soto is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and it used to be free other than the freeway tolls. As of last week, that's changed. Now visitors must pay $5 to park while visiting the lovely sands.

: Strive for Greatness is a non-denominational Christian group set up to inspire men and women through faith. For their Women of Purpose convention at the Sandpiper in St. Pete Beach, they chose a guest speaker who was able to help others through her faith.

: Every day, tourist and locals take in the sight of a colorful sunset or the pleasure of a jet ski run. John’s Pass is home to a slew of outdoor activities as well as dining venues and party places.
If you head south from John’s Pass, the first hot spot you will come to is Gator’s Cafe and Saloon. Gator’s has a hefty local following, but tourists are welcome to join in on the fun too.
