Heroics, Swigwam Issues and Tourism is up

: When 74-year-old Rodney Tyoe, of St. Petersburg, lost control of his ultralight plane on Thursday afternoon, Gus Hertz was in the right place at the right time, again. The crash happened around noon just west of the Skyway Bridge.

: Pinellas County had a very strong month for tourism in March and that trend is continuing into the year. Bed Tax Reports show that Pinellas County has made $3.14 million from revenue.

: The Swigwam is one of beach bars favored by many beachgoers, but it may be changing shortly.The St. Pete Beach City Commission will be voting on whether the Swigwam can use the sidewalk on Corey Avenue at their next meeting on June 26.

:  An ultralight plane crash-landed near the Skyway Bridge just after noon on Thursday. Rodney Tyoe, 74, was trying to make a water landing, when a wind gust flipped the ultralight plane, which plunged into the Indian Key waterway, west of the Skyway Bridge. Gina Zimmerman, 55, was a passenger in the plane.

: Some people love going to a theater to watch a movie on a big screen and some prefer to relax at home while watching a film. Most people don't get the chance to watch a movie while in a pool.
