Pinellas Park Welcomes New City Council Member

PINELLAS PARK, FL — On Aug. 18, Patricia "Patti" Kincer was elected to Pinellas Park City Council Seat 2 and sworn in during a public meeting Sept. 3.

Kincer has lived in Pinellas Park for almost 40 years, graduated from Pinellas Park High School and was a member of the Key Club.

Kincer is a certified sign Language interpreter and works with Freedom Village, the Deaf Service Center, St. Petersburg Housing Authority and Pinellas County Area Agency on Aging.

Kincer worked for the Pinellas Park Police Department for 10 years and was instrumental in establishing the first Pinellas Park Police Department Mounted Patrol Unit.

Kincer was Officer of the Month three times for her work on major cases, nominated twice for Officer of the Year and received two awards for saving lives.

She was part of the Homeless Outreach Team that sought to connect the chronic homeless with services and housing.

Horses have been her lifelong passion and Kincer has been a driving force in the equestrian community for decades. She spent 10 years as a member of the city's Equestrian Board and has partnered with the city on promoting the city's equestrian facilities and maximizing the use of its green spaces. She is an advocate for equestrian and agriculture-related programming including youth programs like 4-H and Future Farmers of America.

Kincer has received awards and recognitions from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the NAMI Iris Award and was recognized by the city of St. Petersburg for her contribution in establishing its successful mounted patrol unit.

She was former head coach of the University of South Florida's Equestrian Team and brought collegiate horse shows to Pinellas Park. She also volunteers and judges for the State Equestrian Special Olympics, works with Veteran Affairs on various programs, has been recognized for her work with CASA and domestic violence, and is a member of the Disaster Animal Relief Team.

Kincer and husband Bill have a blended family with two daughters, Amber and Stevie. They, along with her father, Del Johnson, own Amber Glen Feed Depot and Amber Glen Equestrian Center in Pinellas Park.

Kincer enjoys fishing, competing in equine events and is an avid photographer.
