Plant a Future at Fort De Soto
An event is being held Saturday at Fort De Soto to plant sea oats on the shoreline.

Fort De Soto is one of the most beautiful beaches in America, and people can help keep it that way this Saturday.
The Friends of Fort De Soto hosts the Sow Your Wild Sea Oats volunteer event on Saturday, March 10, starting at 9 a.m.
Wild Sea Oats planted at beaches help to stabilize and establish dune systems that prevent erosion and create habitats for wildlife.

The seeds will be planted at the north point of the park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Afterward, a lunch and a free concert will be provided by the Kiwanis Club of the Gulf Beaches.
Volunteers should meet at Shelter 11, south of the fort; there will be free parking for volunteers.
