Man Accused Of Sexually Abusing Girls Was Church Deacon

Hillsborough County Sheriff's detectives are continuing to investigate accusations of sexual abuse by a Dover Baptist church deacon.

PLANT CITY, FL – Hillsborough County Sheriff’s detectives are continuing to investigate accusations of sexual abuse by a Dover Baptist church deacon to determine if there are any other victims.

David Kenneth Buser Sr., 72, of 604 N. Forbes Road, Plant City, remains in jail in lieu of a $600,000 bond after he was arrested Monday, May 7, and charged with sexually abusing two teen girls over a 10-year period.

Buser is a former deacon and Sunday school teacher at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Dover. Both girls knew Buser when the abuse reportedly began, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff’s office began investigating Buser when a 17-year-old girl came forward to say that Buser had been sexually abusing her since she was about 6 years old. The last assault occurred in March, she said (see related story).

When detectives began looking into the teen’s story, they found another 17-year-old girl who said Buser also sexually abused her from 2008 to November 2017. She was also about 6 years old when the abuse began.

The sheriff’s office said the contact with the girls took place in a home in Hillsborough County but couldn’t offer specifics.

On April 30, detectives said they were able to corroborate the allegations of both victims and drew up a warrant for Buser’s arrest.

He is charged with four counts of sexual battery on a child, two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation on a child and two counts of sexual battery of a child with which he had familial or custodial authority.

Prior to moving to Plant City, Buser lived in Lakeland and Lake Wales.

There are no other arrest records in Hillsborough or Polk counties for David Kenneth Buser Sr. However, David Kenneth Buser Jr., 45, who also lists his address as 604 Forbes Road, off Buser Lane, has been arrested in both counties on various charges including driving under the influence, possession of drugs, felony possession of a firearm, loitering and driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the sheriff's office at (813) 247-8200.
