Miles for Smiles 5K on the Runway Returns to Pompano Beach Airpark on Nov. 7, 2026 (miamilivingmagazine.com) — Pompano Beach runners and families can look ahead to the Miles for Smiles 5K on the Runway at Pompano Beach Airpark on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026. The inclusive race will raise funds for Broward Children’s Center, feature kids’ activities, entertainment, awards, and team fundraising, and welcome participants of all abilities, including wheelchair users.

Woman accused of exploiting elderly victim, illegally selling his home in Pompano Beach (local10.com) — An elderly man’s home on South Cypress Road in Pompano Beach was allegedly sold without his consent, with investigators saying a caregiver misused more than $300,000 from the sale and other assets. Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives describe a broader scheme involving family members, a power of attorney, and attempts to move the victim, while the primary suspect remains jailed awaiting a bond hearing.
   

3. Florida School Bus Driver Dies After Being Struck at District Lot (stnonline.com) — A longtime Broward County school bus driver died after being struck by another bus in a dark transportation lot in Pompano Beach, raising concerns about safety conditions there. Investigators say speed and impairment weren’t factors, while the district has reassigned the other driver and the victim’s family is pressing for answers about the unlit lot and possible prevention measures.
   

4. Persistent storms bring flooded streets, soggy conditions ahead of weekend in Broward (wsvn.com) — Heavy storms Friday left parts of Pompano Beach with standing water that pushed past front yards and made some neighborhood streets difficult to drive. With several inches of rain already fallen and more expected through the weekend, residents are urged to slow down, avoid driving through standing water, and be prepared for continued soggy conditions across Broward.
