• Charlotte County crews battle vehicle fire at Circle K gas station on Duncan Rd (gulfcoastnewsnow.com) — Punta Gorda firefighters helped Charlotte County crews quickly knock down a vehicle fire at the Circle K on Duncan Road before flames could reach the gas pumps. The store was evacuated, the nearby intersection briefly closed, and one person declined hospital transport. Officials say an accidental mechanical failure inside the vehicle sparked the blaze.
   

• El Nino is a big deal as we head deeper into hurricane season (mysuncoast.com) — Punta Gorda residents are being warned that even with El Niño likely to suppress some Atlantic hurricanes, a single storm can still bring serious impacts to our area.
